Every spring, as the snow melts and the hills awaken in shades of green, the Kalash people celebrate the Uchal Festival, an expression of gratitude to nature and the spirits that sustain life.
During this rare and soulful journey, you’ll witness a living heritage untouched by time. Villagers in bright traditional robes gather in dance and song, their laughter echoing through the valleys as they honor the renewal of life. You’ll join in their celebrations, share traditional meals, and learn about their animistic beliefs that revere rivers, mountains, and forests as divine.

Welcome to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, known for its modern elegance and natural beauty. Meet with your Venus Trails team and you’ll be escorted to your hotel. In the afternoon a short orientation walk around the hotel helps reset your body clock; this is a calm day focused on preparing you physically and mentally. In the evening there’s a full briefing covering safety, trekking logistics, cultural etiquette, and the environmental practices we follow on every trip.

The road winds through wild mountain scenery and as you arrive, you’ll find serenity among clear streams and timeless wooden homes. Spend time walking through the village, meeting families, and learn about their daily life and beliefs that celebrate the spirits of nature. Continue your journey to Chitral, nestled beneath the shadow of Tirich Mir (7,708 m) the highest peak of the Hindu Kush. Check into your hotel and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by mountains.
